The Mason City Public Utility Department provide billing, payment processing, collection and customer service for the following:
• Storm Sewer
• Curbside Recycling
• Garbage collection
The Mason City Public Utility Department accepts applications for new service, processes customer requests to disconnect and /or transfer existing service, and collects accurate water meter readings.
Our hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For your convenience, a utility billing drive up drop box is located on the southwest side of City Hall. On the day of disconnection, the outside drop box is picked up only at 8:00 a.m. CASH ONLY TO BE RECONNECTED.

Mason City Utility Billing customers may pay their utility bills as listed:
Pay by Check - If you pay by personal check, checks must be made out to Mason City Public Utility and mailed to 10 1st Street N.W. Mason City, IA 50401.
Direct Pay - If you wish to be a direct pay customers, you will need to sign an authorization form with the Mason City Public Utility. This is a convenient and easy automatic payment service that saves you time, effort, and postage. This electronic bank transfer ensures that your water bill is paid in a timely, efficient manner. Please call for form to be mailed or stop in to fill out. A voided check is needed for verification of routing and account numbers.
Bill Pay - If your bank writes a check and mails it for you, payments should be made out to Mason City Public Utility and mailed to 10 1st Street N.W. Mason City, IA 50401.
In Person - You can pay utility bills in person at City Hall, first floor, 10 1st Street N.W. during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or drop off at Hy-Vee West Customer Service counter.
