On September 30, 2010, David Johnson became the first and last EMS Captain. Chief Platts restructured the Deputy Chiefs’ positions and reformed the EMS Captain position into another Deputy Chief position, Deputy Chief – EMS. Dave Johnson seamlessly stepped into this position. The EMS oversight duties previously held by the Deputy Chief – Operations will now be handled by Dave Johnson as the Deputy Chief – EMS. The expansion of his duties and responsibilities will streamline the chain-of-command for ambulance services within the Department and will only enhance the already great job done by the Department. As the chief overseer of ambulance services, Deputy Chief Johnson will also be responsible for ambulance reporting, quality control and ambulance billing. Deputy Chief Johnson can be reached at the Department’s main number (641.421.3640).
