Live Music: The Common Ground Company- Fat Hill Brewing, 17 N. Federal Ave (641-423-0737). The Common Ground Company’s unique blend of Bluegrass, Americana, and Folk have been dazzling the Twin Cities since the fall of 2015. Led by Steph Snow’s powerful vocals and piano, Jorgen Wadkins (guitar), Pete Whitemen (bass), Zach Tauer (banjo), and Jake Rohde (mandolin) blend their acoustic instruments to create a driving, dynamic soundscape. Exhibit: Rob Mango: RHAPSODY - Charles H. MacNider Art Museum (Kinney-Lindstrom Gallery), 303 2nd St. SE (641-421-3666).  Artist Rob Mango with his piece, Aura VI (Tango Twins), 2017, oil on canvas.

Inspired by life in New York City, artist Rob Mango explores the relationships between dissimilar elements as a way to discover meaning.  The artist perceives the world as a depository of references, with symbolism derived from cultural objects and the natural environment.  RHAPSODY includes vestiges of reality, carefully rendered architecture and natural settings, all of which are transformed into allegory, leading the viewer to an alternate reality. Exhibit: “Classy Creations” - Charles H. MacNider Art Museum (Center Space Gallery), 303 2nd St. SE (641-421-3666).  Every year the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum celebrates Youth Art Month (March) with an exhibition honoring students and their teachers.  The 2019 School Art Exhibition will feature the innovative artwork of high school students from public, private and home schools served by Area Education Agency 267. Wild Times at Lime Creek - Lime Creek Nature Center, 3501 Lime Creek Rd. (641-423-5309). Come and join our winter naturalist intern for some outdoor fun. School aged children are invited to come and explore the outdoors. Each week there will be a different theme and exploration factor. Wild Times at Lime Creek meets the 5.2.1.0 Healthy Choices Count initiative. By getting outside you are promoting a healthier body and mind! Please come dressed for the weather each week and bring a water bottle, we will be moving around a lot. There is no fee for this program but registration is required. St. Patrick’s Day Party – featuring, the Johnny Holm Band – Surf Ballroom, 460 N. Shore Dr. Clear Lake (641-357-6151). Leader and front man of the most widely known and traveled band in America, Johnny Holm is the most entertaining entertainer performing today. The show is dedicated to the fans, and they do most of the entertaining. Mostly impromptu, the show moves with the speed of lightning and changes direction as soon as "the pied piper" notices a lag. Live Music: Tom Mcelvain - Mason City Brewing, 28 E State Street (641-423-1080). Tom McElvain was born and raised in Wichita Falls, Texas. As a boy he was interested in music but he was discouraged at every turn. He loved to write and perform and later found a love for the freedom of the road but put more effort in being the stable day in day out employee he thought his family wanted. It was in 2000 that he decided the music life was what he was meant for. He was fortunate enough for Ray Wylie Hubbard to take him under his wing. Since then he has written with Cody Jinks, Robbie White blacktop Gypsy, Ronny Spears, Mark David Manders, and other music friends. Show starts at 8pm. Creedence Clearwater Revival - North Iowa Area Community College Auditorium, 500 College Drive (641-422-4188). Classic Albums Live takes classic albums from the ‘60s and ‘70s and recreates those albums live on-stage-note-for-note, cut-for-cut. Using the world’s best musicians, fans are treated to an exact replication of the album followed by a second set of the featured artist’s greatest hits. Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) was America’s greatest band. Their music reached out and got an entire continent rocking. Hit after hit, no other band delivers that big of a collection of instantly recognizable, toe-tapping songs. Classic Alums Live will honor the legacy of CCR by performing their Chronicles album and greatest hits with hoy and dedication- note-for-note, cut-for-cut.
