According to City Code, grass and weeds on private property may not be maintained at a height greater than one foot (1’). Upon receipt of a complaint that grass and/or weeds exceed one foot (1’) in height, the City will issue a notice to the property owner to cut the grass or weeds. The property owner is given five (5) business days from the service of the notice to cut the grass and/or weeds. If the property owner fails to do so, the selected contractor will cut the grass or weeds. This typically happens on 200 occasions during a calendar year, although the number may fluctuate significantly from year to year.

The successful contractor will possess adequate equipment to cut grass and weeds in an efficient manner. See the enclosed list of recommended equipment.

The contractor is required to photograph each site prior to and after cutting. The City will provide a digital camera and rechargeable batteries.

The City of Mason City will be responsible for collection of all payments and the contractor is to bill the city.

The Contractor shall provide a certificate of insurance showing general liability coverage of not less than $1,000,000.00 and property damage coverage of not less than $500,000.00. In addition, the Contractor shall provide a certificate of insurance showing minimum Automobile Liability for Personal Injury, $100,000.00 each person, Personal Injury, $300,000.00 each occurrence, and Property Damage, $25,000.00. All insurance shall remain in force through the term of the agreement.
